Using an infrared emitter accessory
For indoor and low-light conditions, an infrared emitter accessory will improve range and accuracy. An example of one device is shown below. We have tested this and found it works very well. It can be purchased for around $25 from Amazon at this link.

Plug in the IR emitter and place about 2 feet behind the PuttLink ball as shown below. A light sensor on the bottom of the emitter should be facing the floor or covered by tape

A faint red glow should be seen from the infrared LEDs. A phone camera will capture more intensity than eyesight. Set optimum tilt angle by adjusting the mounting bracket to support the unit on the floor.
